Frequently Asked Question

The University Scholars Leadership Symposium is a world-leading Global Leadership in Social Change Program that aims to nurture the leadership potential of outstanding youth from reputable institutions of higher learning. We achieve this by imparting delegates with the necessary skills and knowledge, as we are providing invaluable opportunities that benefit not only themselves but their communities. This Symposium also emphasises the importance of ascertaining an open-minded view of the world as young delegates face humanitarian challenges through global collaboration. We hope that our delegates leave the USLS with the realisation that they have the power to lead and implement positive and sustainable change.

Humanitarian Affairs invites all outstanding youth leaders, between the ages of 17 to 30, with the following qualities to participate in the University Scholars Leadership Symposium:

  • Youth Leaders should be able to demonstrate strong leadership potential and demonstrate how they can aspire to learn from others to become better leaders.
  • Youth Leaders should have an open mind and maintain a genuine appreciation for different perspectives and for individuals with different backgrounds, interests and ambitions
  • Youth Leaders should hold consideration and respect for others and possess an interest to better serve society.

Beyond Ourselves

“I was given the exclusive privilege of attending the USLS for a second time. My first encounter with the event was in Hanoi, at the 7th USLS. The experience then was just as impactful and inspiring as the 10th USLS. Through my time at both symposiums, I have become convinced that the USLS is truly a platform that provides purpose to every youth leader that walks through its door. Not only that but the event is also a reminder to my fellow youth to achieve greater things beyond ourselves.

The 5-day youth empowerment symposium was filled with positive energy, inspiring stories, and impactful lessons. USLS definitely explored every possible emotion there was to experience, leaving us all raw with passion to make the world we call home a better place.

I have met so many aspiring youths and I have hope for the future generations to come. I definitely left the symposium as a more sensible, proactive, and empowered global citizen.
